My main goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, like you’re talking to a trusted friend.

Hi, I’m Jenny (she/her)

Finding a therapist you like is hard enough, and once you find them, getting to the point where you feel like they “get” you (your history, your personality, your preferences etc.) is hard, too!

I always dread the question, “Tell me about yourself” but since I ask folks to do just that, I think it’s only fair that I answer that question.

I grew up on the coast of Maine and have always loved nature, dogs, and most of all, people. I wanted to be a teacher from ages 6-22 when I student taught fifth grade and realized I was much more interested in getting to know each kiddo one-on-one than I was in lesson planning. After that, I switched gears to therapy and never looked back.

I have worked in lots of different specialties, including outpatient clinics, in-home therapy, an eating disorder hospital and partial hospitalization program (PHP), and a residential treatment center for kids with developmental trauma. In terms of my therapeutic approach, I lean most heavily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, (ACT) which centers your values and works to build mindfulness of your thoughts and emotions to move toward meaningful action. I’m also trained in DBT and CBT and I consistently take a trauma-informed approach and explore with you how life experiences shape your current and ever-evolving identity.

On a more personal note, I live in Durham with my husband, daughter, and two dogs. On weekends I can be found hiking, baking, exploring an art fair, or parked on the couch with a good book or some trashy reality TV.
